Meet A/Manifesto, a digital journal that explores style, skin and substance with complete creative freedom.
(n.) a written statement declaring publicly the intentions, motives, or views of its issuer
It’s nerve-wracking to (finally) execute a vision that had spent much of its existence inside my own head.
It was a relatively simple one too. I simply wanted an outlet where I was free to explore my different mediums of storytelling and my overall creativity. Be it the written word, photography or something else entirely.
Meanwhile, I wanted to be free from all the editorial rules, regulations and guidelines I had adhered to for most of my career. As a freelance content producer, breaking away from those is practically impossible.
Don’t get me wrong, they are important. The problem was it pertained to someone else’s vision. Not mine.
And while others can be content with that, I wasn’t. I got to a point where I started reflecting on true self. More importantly, I asked myself…
If I no longer existed tomorrow, what would be my legacy?
If I no longer existed tomorrow, what would be my legacy?
And that’s how A/Manifesto was born and named.
Style
It’s a manifesto of my creations – untethered from the ties that bound my creativity in the past.
Skin
It’s a manifesto where I am equal parts observer and purveyor of the industries I’m passionate about.
Substance
It’s a manifesto that digs deeper into the fashion, beauty and creative industries – beyond the emotionless clickbait.
From the style we create, the skin we have to our pursuits to live a life full of substance, I wanted to get nitty-gritty with it all.
Most importantly, it’s a manifesto that gives you – the reader – an insight into my mind’s machinations in the hopes it inspires you to question, discuss and analyse our creative industries with a critical lens.
It may be a manifesto among millions of others out there, but it’s my manifesto.
And I’m so happy you’re going to be a part of it.
